  “It’s nothing like that, Payton.”

Taylor sat on the bed near Payton. “Look at me, what the fuck am I going to do. Everyone at that restaurant works in the district attorney’s office. Your office. You kissed me and I kissed you back, not a light kiss on your lips, but you took my mouth and I was stupid enough to return that kiss. Now it’s going to be all around San Francisco, and I just got a partnership. I know for sure that I’m out. That law practice will drop me.”

Payton stood looking at the man he had fallen in love with. How does that happen, he questioned himself? How did he fall in love that fast and with a man? A man who fucks men and women. And now he was that kind of man. One who fucks women and now men? Bisexual they call it. But he knew he wasn’t bisexual because he could never go back to women. Taylor had spoiled him forever. It was Taylor or nothing, and he was too young for nothing.

“Are you finished now berating me? If you are, I’ll be back tomorrow night. The latest will be Monday morning. Do you think I would leave you? Never,” Taylor said his eyes fixed on an upset Payton.

“SINCE IT’S YOUR IDEA to adopt, Payton, you should consider giving up your job to raise children. Besides, you can’t keep defending some of those scumbags. It’s getting next to you. If you must work, work with one of Max’s companies.”

“I don’t want to be at the same place you are. And I never liked the corporate world with the money and banks and defending those rich fucks. Not me. I thought about my own practice. Like that I can take the cases I want. For now, I’ll buy a dog, but this isn’t over.” Payton stood and kissed Taylor.

By the look on Payton’s face and the feel of that kiss on his forehead, Taylor knew it wasn’t over. He felt this fight had just begun. “A dog. Really, Payton. They’re worse than babies.”

“Then let’s get a surrogate. Do you know anyone we can employ? Since we’re both retired bisexuals, we don’t have to have artificial insemination, one of us can impregnate a woman.”

“If I thought you were serious, I would buy a cage to put on that cock of yours. I didn’t know that you could be so aggressive in bed. My dick is getting hard again thinking about what you put into me.” And Taylor laid back on the bed and began stroking his cock.

Then a buzzer rang. “What’s that?”

“The intercom system. My mother is looking for me. Don’t answer it until we take a shower and dress. She’s persistent. When we get out of the shower, she’ll probably have called twenty more times.”

“I guess she’s like you,” Payton said.

“Do you want to stay here tonight or go home?” Taylor stopped, and asked on his way to the shower.

“I want to go home. The sooner I get started on that case the faster I’ll have it done, and I’ll be waiting for you. Or I could meet you on Monday, and we could have dinner. Don’t you have a meet up with Noah, Jake, and Brock and his husband at the French bistro?”

“I forgot about that. Go on over there, and I’ll meet you about five o’clock. I hope I can get out of the office soon. Oh and I forgot, I have to fly to San Francisco for Max, but that’s next month. Now come take a shower with me,” Taylor said holding out his hand to Payton. “I might drop the soap and need help picking it up.” Taylor aimed a large smile Payton’s way.

  Chapter Six

MONDAY MORNING, EARLY about seven, Taylor woke to the smell of coffee. Payton had been up early and brewed them a pot. He was an early morning riser and he would set out the breakfast of toasted bagels and cream cheese, or an English muffin, yogurt and fruit. They would eat their breakfast and then fruit, and while one read the paper, the other would report on the latest events either in court or what gossip they heard from their friends.

When it was pleasant and the weather was agreeable, the way it was now in June, they would sit on their balcony, high enough where they didn’t have to hear or be bothered with the roar of cars, and taxi horns on the street below. It was a beautiful place that Taylor had bought for the two of them after accepting a position at MG and Company run by none other than his friend Maxwell Gold Jr.

Payton was already seated on the terrace when Taylor breezed into the kitchen. He poured himself coffee, and swiped an English muffin from the toaster. It was still hot as he put butter and strawberry jam on it. He bit into it and picked up a container of yogurt before heading for the terrace where Payton was reading the New York Times.

Leaning down and kissing Payton on the cheek, “Good morning,” Taylor said as he plopped down in the chair next to Payton, before depositing his coffee cup on the small table.

Payton never looked up at Taylor to greet Taylor’s pleasant address, but said instead—“What’s so fucking good about it?”

“Whoa, where did that come from, sweetheart?”

“And don’t call me sweetheart. Look at the papers, will you.” When Taylor sat and crossed his legs, Payton dropped the Style magazine section in front of him, in his lap, after turning and glaring at him.

“I don’t read that section of the paper,” Taylor said pushing the magazine aside.

“Well you need to.” Payton made an attempt to take it from Taylor’s hands. “Then I’ll read it for you.” Payton reached for the magazine, and Taylor refused to let him have it now. He read the headlines. “So this is about Jami and Max. We were there last night remember. Why does an article about Jami and Max cause you to be so rude?”

“That’s the operative word we. Of course we were there last night. Now look at the pictures in that section. There’s only you in that picture, and all the other pictures. I was cut out completely, and it was Photo-shopped to give the impression that you were alone, even when you leaned in to kiss me. That fucking bitch managed to make the picture look as if you were turning your head to talk to someone.”

“Here there’s a picture of you.” Taylor pointed at the paper.

“What the fuck? That little bitch has me with my mouth wide open with white cake icing spread all over my mouth. It looks like I just gave a blow-job, and there’s come all over my mouth.”

Taylor placed his hand over his mouth because he wanted to laugh, but didn’t dare show Payton that.

“I think that’s a great picture of you. You looked just like that the other night after you sucked me off.”

“This shit is not funny. If I get my hands on him, better yet, I’m going to sue him.”

“You can’t sue him over something like that,” Taylor said trying to hide how absurd Payton was behaving.

Taylor glanced down and then he glanced up into his incredible handsome husband’s face whose eyes had deepened and narrowed even as the sun was rising, and as the glow hit his eyes. There was a fire in them, and it wasn’t because he wanted to fuck him, it was because he wanted to kill Dylan.

They were still dark and hooded behind a perfect set of black lashes even as Taylor said nothing trying to give him time to calm down.

“He took all your pictures out that were with me? Why would he do such a thing?” Taylor knew the answer, but he didn’t want to make matters worse than they were, and things were getting nasty between he and Payton and Taylor knew who to blame.

He had never seen Payton so furious and downright angry before. Normally Payton’s behavior bordered on passivism he was more submissive before this. That was unless he was in the courtroom defending those he thought to be innocent. But to see him all irritated made Taylor think about Payton and how this could cause a rift in their relationship, and he cherished what they had.

“That Dylan character took out only the pictures with you and me in them. How convenient.” Then Payton stood with his coffee in hand. “I’m leaving, I have an early appointment in court.”

Taylor caught his hand on his way into the apartment. “Don’t leave like this. You know I had nothing to do with it.”

“You had everything to do with this. You have some secret going on with him, and I’m your husband, and I don’t have a clue what’s going on between you and that Dyla
n person. I don’t have time to listen to you now, but as soon as this trial is over, I’ll have plenty of questions and you’d better have the answers.”

And Payton turned on his heels and marched into the house.

Taylor sat back to think. He placed his cup to his lip, closed his eyes and drank his coffee black. He needed that extra boost. Taylor wasn’t sure what Payton would do, and he didn’t want to lose him over something Dylan had intentionally provoked.

He knew Dylan could be a bitch when he didn’t get his way and now, Taylor knew from Dylan’s behavior that he wanted him back in his bed. The way they had been years before when Taylor was a teen and experimenting. He as much as said it to Payton at the wedding reception.

That was Dylan alright, he had balls when he wanted a man. That thought garnered a smile from Taylor. And then his mind settled on Payton. He must love him a lot to be that angry, or Dylan had managed to get him so jealous that he couldn’t think straight. Taylor didn’t know which.

TAYLOR REMEMBERED WHEN Dylan first took him, he’d had sex only with females, and he was the one who pursued and caught the girls or women he wanted to fuck. But when he met Dylan, and Dylan got him a job at the modeling agency where he’d worked, and with young girls coming and going, Taylor had thought he’d died and gone to heaven.

Taylor brought his fist to his mouth thinking about the night Dylan seduced him. Dylan invited him to his apartment under the ruse that he was inviting some of the female models to a party because they had a break from the all night shoots, and in truth, Taylor needed a break too. He didn’t need the money, but he got into modeling because he wanted to meet girls and because Dylan was so persuasive.

“I thought the girls would be here already. I need to rest. How long do you think it will be before they arrive? Maybe I can catch a few before they come? I’ve been working around the clock on that damn shoot.”

  “Sure, Taylor, take my room.”

Taylor slept for a few hours, and then woke to Dylan sitting on the side of his bed looking down at him with a bare chest and wearing a pair of pajama bottoms.

“Here take a sip of wine.” Dylan handed Taylor the glass of wine and he drank it. “First time?”

“No. Of course not. But more beer than wine. When are the girls coming? I need to get laid. My cock is so hard.” And Taylor palmed his length making an outline in his pants, where Dylan’s eyes followed his hand and then swiped his tongue over his bottom lip. Dylan put his hand over Taylor’s hand and looked him directly in the eyes.

“The girls can’t come. They have a curfew.”

“Then I’d better leave.” But Dylan placed his hand on Taylor’s chest and Taylor glanced up at him. He didn’t ask him why he was doing this. Taylor knew why. Taylor had been attracted to Dylan in the beginning, but because Dylan was older by three years, he looked at him as a big brother and never thought that he was into boys.

And because Taylor never knew Dylan liked him or had interest in men, he never imagined that Dylan could be gay or for that matter, himself.

Dylan leaned over and kissed Taylor slow and soft as he removed Taylor’s hand and replaced it with his own on his cock, and when Taylor returned the kiss, Dylan toed off his slippers, and then dropped his pants and stood over Taylor with a thick swollen cock dripping with pre-come. He held it.

“I don’t know how I’m going to keep from coming now, but first I want to have you in my mouth,” Dylan said to Taylor.

That was fine with Taylor until he sorted out whether he would date and fuck females or males. He’d had sex with some of the models, but never a man, but he didn’t discriminate because sex was sex, and his parents raised him to follow his heart, and his heart was thrumming out of his chest at the sight of the man in front of him naked and holding onto a large cock.

Dylan crawled into the bed and unzipped Taylor’s pants as Taylor reached nervously for the hem of his black tee and pulled it over his head.

One of the models he’d had sex with had been seventeen and she tried sucking Taylor’s cock, but he’d gotten nothing from it, not even an orgasm, so when Dylan suggested that he take Taylor’s cock into his mouth, he thought, why the fuck not? It can’t be as bad as the one before because his cock was hard and throbbing and he needed release.

He didn’t expect anyone to know. It wasn’t like Dylan talked a lot. He was very private and Taylor knew that.

But when Dylan took Taylor’s length in his hand, and brought his fist down tight, Taylor almost convulsed from the pleasure of that one stroke.

“My God, Dylan. Where did you learn how to do that?”

Dylan didn’t answer, he just offered him a sly smirk, and his mouth covered Taylor’s length and took it in deep down his throat. With one hand, fisted around Taylor’s cock, and another smoothing over Taylor’s wide muscular chest, and with his fingers landing on one of his nipples, he teased his nub with those fingers and with his tongue, he teased the slit of Taylor’s swollen weeping cock.

Taylor sat back clutching the sheets and saying, “Fuck. Fuck, this is amazing. You’re amazing.”

When Dylan pulled Taylor’s dick from his mouth, Taylor moaned from the loss and reached for Dylan’s thick hair and brought his waiting cock to Dylan’s mouth once more as he glanced down to see a smile from Dylan looking up at him.

“Yes, Taylor, he whispered, “I know what you want, and yes, Taylor, I will give you what you want tonight and every night.”

WHEN TAYLOR HEARD HIS phone ring, he was back to the now. He glanced to the side of him and he had left his phone on the marble kitchen isle. When he stepped into the kitchen, he reached his phone, it had gone into voicemail, and it was time to get dress and there was no time to answer any early calls.

Payton had already left for work and after their quarrel, Taylor didn’t want to be bothered with anyone except Payton.

Get to the job. The earlier the better, he thought. Normally he didn’t have to be in until nine a.m., and that’s when he would drive his car and park in the company’s underground parking garage, but leaving at seven thirty to get there at eight, he would have to take a cab.

Looking at his calendar, he was reminded that tonight he had to meet Payton at the French Bistro. The guys would have their significant others there with them, and it would do him good to be among friends, and help with all the tension between he and Payton brought on by Dylan’s stalking behavior, and Payton’s over the top jealousy.

He hoped Payton wouldn’t be as sour as he had been before. He couldn’t take that from him especially since he had been a quiet comfortable lover and stable husband.

Maybe Payton had been too comfortable and too easy that Taylor didn’t see the volcano underneath that calm exterior.

Taylor didn’t want to do anything to annoy Payton. He had already proven that he wasn’t as submissive and obedient as Taylor had thought, especially in bed. But his love for Payton prevented him from doing anything that would cause a rift between the two of them. At least he thought he hadn’t done anything. It wasn’t his fault that an old lover had come back into his life by accident. But was it an accident? Taylor thought. Or did Dylan purposefully take this job to do just what he had done—fuck up his life.

THE DAY HAD BEEN BOTH tedious and grueling and Taylor looked forward to unwinding with the boys, and especially with his husband. Sitting at his desk, he stretched and raised his arms over his head before he headed out of his office.

Taking a full breath, he placed his arms behind his head, but kept looking at the clock because he couldn’t relax. Only fifteen minutes and he would be out of there listening to soft music, having a stiff drink, no wine for him, and a hard body to lean on—Payton’s.

Taylor adjusted in his seat because every-time he thought about Payton he remembered what happened Saturday at Max’s wedding. He’d been surprised at what had come out of Payton’s mouth. Hell, he knew he was a defense attorney, and had met many deceptive and lying defendants, but there was something abou
t Payton where he appeared to transcend all the ugliness that he came into contact with. It was that side of him that Taylor admired.

Payton had a gentle and kind nature on the outside, and that’s why Taylor couldn’t understand the coolness that greeted him this morning, and it all had to do with Dylan. But didn’t he know that Dylan was just a memory to him? How could he convince him of that? He would have to if they were to go forward. And he had to get Dylan out of his mind and his life because clearly it was fucking with everything he held dear, because there was only one thing and one man that mattered to him—Payton Bailey.

Once Taylor had settled that in his mind, he stood to reach for his leather satchel and phone. Glancing over at the clock on his desk, there wasn’t any more he could do today. It was time to meet Payton.

Turning off his computer, and then shoveling folders left on his desk into his cabinet and locking it, Taylor thought about what he had accomplished for the first day on the job. He had set the board straight about his position now, and Max had sent out a memo informing everyone that Taylor, his corporate lawyer, would take the reins while he was off on his honeymoon, and if anyone had a beef or problem to take it to Taylor.

Everything appeared to be running great so he was out of there on time, and eager to get to the restaurant.

Turning his back and picking up his leather satchel with his initials stamped on it in gold, a present from Payton, he heard the door open, and when he turned to see who was going to prevent him from leaving a little early, to his surprise and irritation, stood someone he didn’t want to see. Not now. Not when he had to meet Payton.

  Ah fuck me.

“Imagine my surprise seeing you back in New York,” Dylan said, pulling out a chair and taking a seat in front of Taylor’s desk. Taylor glanced down at Dylan with a furrowed brow.

  “Why are you here?”
